Colin Cowherd Reveals the Best Landing Spots for NFL Rookie Quarterbacks

Watch Colin Cowherd reveal his best landing spots for the star-studded rookie quarterback class in next month’s 2024 NFL Draft, as Colin predicts the fates of Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix, and Michael Penix Jr., with Caleb Williams’ exodus to Chicago at no. 1 practically a foregone conclusion.

Colin Cowherd: “We know Caleb Williams is going to Chicago, but let’s take the other five quarterbacks. Is there a place that if they landed would be fairly ideal? I don’t know if they come true, but they ‘feel’ like they work for me, and overwhelmingly, 90-95%, where you land matters.”
Jayden Daniels – no. 2 to Washington Commanders: “Daniels at number two matters. He’s played out West, he’s played in the SEC, and now he goes to the Northeast. He gets an experienced play-caller with Kliff Kingsbury, who has had quarterbacks who move – Mahomes and Kyler Murray. They have cap space and will shore up some of their issues. They’ve already got good weapons who have been in the league. Terry McLaurin is obviously very good.”
Drake Maye – no. 6 to New York Giants: “People are saying Drake Maye drops, I think the Giants would be perfect. Maye has a relationship with Eli Manning. We know Brian Daboll has had a quarterback who is tall and moves but needs refinement – Josh Allen. He wouldn’t have to play right away in a no. 1 media market, New York.”
JJ McCarthy – no. 11 to Minnesota Vikings: “I don’t think he’s what everybody else does but maybe I’m wrong. Much cheaper version of Kirk Cousins with more athletic ability. The team has got an offensive coach. This would allow them, with a cheaper option at quarterback, to retain Justin Jefferson. And they have Jordan Addison, they have TJ Hockenson, and a great left tackle. In this division, you have got to score points. They have got weapons, and Kirk Cousins is coming off surgery.”
Bo Nix – no. 12 to Denver Broncos: “I think he’s an excellent with Sean Payton. He has 61 college starts. Sean Payton needs to win NOW. He’s not here to teach you how to play quarterback. Nix is ready to play. His ceiling may be lower but his floor could be higher. Payton wants a quarterback who follows his play design, and that’s exactly what Oregon did with Bo Nix. He’s very accurate, and they have Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Javonte Williams, and an offensive coach. His comp is a little Drew Brees with mobility.”
Michael Penix – no. 16 to Seattle Seahawks: “Some would say he’s being over-drafted but Geno Smith is guaranteed no money next year. The Seahawks offensive coordinator is Ryan Grubb, that was Penix’s offensive coordinator at Washington. He doesn’t have to move, it’s the Pacific Northwest. DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, a good left tackle, Charles Cross, excellent young running backs. It won’t be pass-dependent.”
